On this week's show, I'm joined by Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand. No, we aren't discussing state financial reports. Rob is an veteran bowhunter and loves the outdoors. He has a very busy schedule being an elected official, but when he has some free time, he takes advantage of it and heads to the woods. Rob does a lot of public land hunting from a tree saddle (and from the ground), and also hunts bucks in the city in some of Iowa’s urban zones.

My buddy Garrett Wood joins the show this week as we recap his December 2021 bow hunt where he bagged a 211 5/8" non-typical whitetail with a bow. Not only was Garrett able to knock down a Northwest Missouri GIANT during the challenging late season, he killed this monster buck from the ground. I'm excited for you to hear how he laid out his game plan, as well as some of the strategies he uses each year to track down Boone & Crockett bucks.

Fishing is our topic this week! My friend Chris Larson from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources joins the show to talk about fishing strategies this spring, what anglers need to know about ice safety as ice fishing season winds down, paddlefish opportunities in Iowa, and much more. Chris works in western Iowa as a regional fisheries supervisor for the DNR. He has a lot of knowledge about fishing and provides some in-depth insight as to how the department manages fish populations all across the state.
